Glauron jumped, and fell out of bed. "Moonlight," he sobbed. "Moonlight, it's me..."

Ithilwen crawled to the edge of the bed, to see who had fallen out of it, but practically hit the ceiling when Glauron sat up. "Glauron?" she asked, uncertainly. Her eyes were gleaming, even in the faint light.

"Yes," he whispered, a silent tear falling. "Moonlight we were sleeping, just sleeping..." he bit his lip and shook gently. "You're home with me, and the babes."

For a moment she believed him. "Home . . . " she said. But then the mad gleam returned to her eyes, and she closed her mouth, as if refusing to say anything else. Instead, she proptly and defiantly rolled over and went back to sleep.

He sobbed and watched her. Picking up Cali, he left the sleeping girl in her cradle, and walked the room softly with his song, talking to the boy who watched him with wide eyes.

Ithilwen watched him watch her, then watched him get up. She made a sound in her throat that sounded suspiciously like a low snarl when he went for Cali, but didn't make a move to stop him. She was still deciding whether or not to trust him.

He sang softly, the song he had once sang to Ithilwen. "And moonlight beams upon her brow, and starlight in her eyes..." He rocked him back and forth. "What I sing of is your mother," he whispred. "The maiden more beautiful than any whom have lived, even more so than Arwen, or any of her ansestors."

The song brought her back. For a moment, she was no one but herself, Ithilwen. "Glauron?" she asked, tentatively. "I . . . I'm sorry." Then she was sobbing, too. "Forgive me for my doubt!" she cried to her husband.

He set Cali down, and opened his arms, willing to hold her. "Ithilwen, it's alright," he whispered. "If I ever lived through what you did... I would never trust anyone again..." His eyes softened. "Come here, love."

She came to him, and let him wrap his arms around her, and cried into his shoulder as he was into hers. "I'm sorry," she whispered again into his hair. "So sorry."

"It's alright my love," he whispered. "Just be with me now, and trust me..." he rocked back and forth smiling and closed his eyes.

She nodded, and let him rock her. She wasn't smiling -- in fact, she was still crying -- but at least she was Ithilwen.
One of the servant girls came in. "M'lord? M'lady? Elrond is here. He wants to see M'lady." She eyed Ithilwen like one would watch a rabid cat.

Glauron looked up. "Tell him to wait a little while please," he whispered. "But we'll be there..." he took a deep breath, not letting go of Ithilwen.

It didn't matter -- the sudden appearance of the maid sent Ithilwen over the edge again. She began to squirm in his arms, suddenly feeling trapped instead of loved. When he let go, the mad light was back in her eyes, and she regarded him with equal parts suspicion and confusion.

"Ithilwen," he whispered and then shook her head. "Kitten, please... I thought you said you would trust me."
