Here are some Elvish (Sindarin) phrases it might be good to know. Note: even if a phrase is listed here, it still would be nice to provide an English translation when using it. - Mae govannen!: 'Well met!' or 'Hello!'
- Gîl síla erin lû e-govaded vín.: lit. 'A star shines upon the hour of our meeting.', a nice way to say 'Nice to meet you!'
- Navaer!: 'Goodbye'
- Namárië: not Sindarin, but I've listed it here because it's so popular. It means 'Goodbye'.
- Man eneth lín?: 'What is your name?'
- --- i eneth nín.: 'My name is ---.'
- Hannad!: 'Thanks!'
- Im naer.: 'I'm sad.' or 'I'm sorry.'
- Nae, gerich naergon nín.: a formal apology, lit. 'Alas, you have my expression of deep regret.'
- Ú-moe edaved!: lit. 'It is not necessary to forgive!'
