Before LotR
Mari sat alone on a bench with a book in her hands. She had been reading it for weeks now and it was almost finished. Mari hadn't had a vision in a few months now and that was fine with her. She dispissed them and how they had controled her. She looked a picture in the book of a dragon flaming from the top of a mountain. Suddenly she saw fire all around her and the dragon staring right at her. Mari closed her eyes scared and frustrated and closed the book in her hands. She ran to the edge of the balcony and threw the book out in the river fall below. She watched as it fell down. Finally it splashed in the waters and the dragon's flame splased up instead of water. Mari looked away quickly.

Ithilwen couldn't believe that there was anyone here. She thought she was only one of few who knew of it. But, perhaps not. She smiled at herself, and her own dillusions.
She rounded the corner in time to see an Elf maid with wavy brown hair throw a book into the river. "What did you do that for?" she asked, before noticing how shook up the strange Elf seemed.

Mari turned around. Suprised that someone else was there. She stared at Ithilwen for a few seconds then looked away quickly then back at the elf before her. "It was....nothing...nothing...I just...nothing," Mari stuttered. Only her father, mother and highest elves knew of her visions...and that was the way she liked it.

"Are you okay?" Ithilwen asked the strange Elf maid. The poor thing looked nervous enough to pass out! "Oh, where are my manners?! My name is Ithilwen."

"I'm Mari, Ithilwen," Mari replied and curtsied slightly. She didn't feel confortable at all. She looked at Ithilwen's jewel, trying not to look in her eyes. She lended against the balcony rail. Then it happened again. The jewel burst into a million flames and the dragon leaped out at her. Flames consuming everything. Mari lended back a little to far and over the balcony. Luckily, with agility and skill, she caught the edge of the floor and held on trying to pull herself up.

Ithilwen rushed over and helped Mari over the banister and back on solid ground. "Are you okay?" she asked again, looking the strange Elf over for signs of injury or distress that might trigger her odd behavior. She also discreetly smelled her breath for alcohol. Both checks came back negative.

Mari touched her head lightly. "Fine...I'm...I need to speak to my father, and some of the high elves. Then...everything will be fine," Mari said outloud. But she wasn't nessesarily talking to Ithilwen.

Ithilwen found this exceedingly odd behavior, but was happy to oblige. "High Elves?" she asked. "I can speak to Elrond, if you would like."

"You....how do you....how can you do that? He is the highest...in Rivendell..." Mari was unsure. "BUt if you can...."

Ithilwen shifted from foot to foot nervously. She didn't like talking about her position as his unofficially adopted daughter. "Yes, I can," she said simply. "And I will, if you'd like. What would you like me to say?"

Glauron wipped his hands, on his tunic. He was clean, but compared to Ithilwen he still felt rather dirty. Walking up next to her, he stood quietly, and nodded to Mari.

Ithilwen turned around, startled. "Glauron!" she said.

"Ithilwen," he said with a nod, leaning down and kissing her cheek. "Who is this?"

"This is Mari," Ithilwen said. "She needs to talk to Elrond." She squeezed his hand behind her back -- she didn't know what this girl's problem was, and didn't want him asking awkward questions.

"I see," he said with a nod to her. "Well, m'lord Elrond is one of the most decent elves I know, I do not doubt that he'll see you." He smiled at her and gave Ithilwen a quick squeeze back.
