The Witch-king had made it quite clear that he didn't need any more information about the happenings at the forge, so Vanmoriel headed for the Library to sulk and maybe read a good book. But, as fate would have it, there was another Elf already occupying her favorite area. Wonderful. She studiously ignored her, picked a book off the shelf, and plopped into a nearby chair.

"Hello," Alya said to the elf. She had never seen her here before, or anywhere for that matter. "I'm Alya," she said.

"Sidhiel," she said, not even looking up, pretending to be absorbed in her book.

"Are you new here? I've nver seen you around before," she said, trying to strike up a conversation.

"Yup," she said, turning the page. The Elf was one of those annoyingly-beautiful blondes, that men seemed to think descended straight from Heaven, the Valar's gift to Middle-earth, in frilly pink dresses.

"Oh," she smiled, "Where did you come from?" she asked, getting frustrated. She wanted to snatch the book up and make the girl look at her.

"Mirkwood," Vanmoriel said.

"Oh, I like Mirkwood," she smiled, "Except for the bugs. To many spiders," she giggled, trying to make a joke. This girl was starting to really get on her nerves.

"I like spiders." She turned the page, once again not looking up. Couldn't this girl take a hint? Or was there too much air between her pointy ears for such a thing?

"Really, I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually liked spiders," she said. "So, what you reading about that's so good?" she asked, craning her neck to see the front of the book.

"Maeglin," she said. She actually found that it had been the first book she had grabbed amusing, in an ironic sort of way. "And I do like spiders. Good for practical jokes. Putting them down ladies' blouses, and the like."

Alya raised an eyebrow, "Oh, you put spiders down woman's blouses?" she asked, confused why a grown woman would do such a thing. It seemed childish.

"Yes, it makes them jump in such a wonderful way, screaming. And, sometimes . . ." She remembered her cover. "I'm sorry, she said, though she wasn't. "I've just had a bad day."

She nodded, she had had plenty of those in her lifetime. "I understand. Chocolate usually helps," she smiled.

"Yes, it does," she said. Actually, chocolate sounded good right about now. She closed the book. "I'll go get some. Thank you, . . .uh . . ."
