Before LotR
Ithilwen sat on a couch, overlooking the river, thinking. It had turned out to be a lovely summer day -- sunny and bright, but early enough in the season not to be too hot. The birds were chirping, and the flowers were still in bloom. A dragonfly, on his way to the river, zoomed past her ear.
She overlooked the river, brooding. Things were changing, she could feel it. Rivendell was emptying -- everyone was heading West. This was nothing new. Yet, there was something driving them, some dark force that had started to cover Middle-earth, until none were safe from its malicious prescense. No, not even here in Imladris.
She shifted in her seat. She used to feel so comfortable here, invincible, like nothing could break through the protective magic of Elrond. Now . . . now she wasn't so sure. And it frightened her.
She heard someone on the path behind her. This was supposed to be a secluded spot -- few knew of its existence -- so she was slightly surprised to hear footsteps. She turned, to see who it was.

Faelien was quite startled to see someone here, sitting on a couch. She was simply taking a walk, with no intention of actually ending up anywhere. "Im naer [I'm sorry], I did not mean to disturb you," she said, taking a step back.

Nimmir was behind her smiling broadly at the heat and the stages of the flowers.
She smiled when she saw the other figure.

"No, it's fine!" Ithilwen said. She smiled at the girl, and invited her to sit beside her. "Ithilwen i eneth nín. Man eneth lín?" [my name is Ithilwen. what is yours?]

"Oh, Faelien, hannad [thanks]!" She said, now smiling, becoming her usual outgoing self. Faelien jumped up, skipped up the couple of steps, and plopped on the couch beside Ithilwen. Now facing another direction, she saw another girl. "Mae govannen! [hello!]"
OOC: I have to get off for the night (grrrrr!). Now, please please please don't kick off too much without me! Night!

Ithilwen laughed at the girl's cheerfullness, then followed her gaze to the glade's other occupant. "Oh, hello Nimmir!" she said. "I didn't notice you there!"
OOC: better not do too much until Túveren can join us!

Nimmir smiled and sat down with a smile. "Welcome to Rivendell," she said with a polite smile. Word of Glauron could wait for a later time.

"Faelien of Lothlórien," she said, bowing her head.

Ithilwen's eyebrows shot straight up. "Oh, so you are from Lothlórien?" she asked.

Faelien nodded. "I arrived a couple of hours ago. It's so different! In a good way that is."

Ithilwen grinned, hoping the girl had not heard of her recent . . . escapades . . . in Cerin Amroth. "Well, I hope you like it here!" she said, patting her on the shoulder in a friendly way. OOC: Here's where you can read about Ithy in Lothlórien.

"I do, very much. Do both of you hail from here?" Faelien asked, fiddling with a piece of her raven hair.
