Alay woke several hours later. She looked over at Landion sitting there, "I'm sorry, " she whisperd. "It's all my fault." she said, remembering the sip of wine she took.

"No, it's not!" Landion said, sitting up. "Alya, how can it be your fault? You did nothing wrong!!"

Alya shook her head, "Last night, I took a sip of Ithilwen's wine." she told him, not looking him the eye. "That sip must have killed my son," she cried.

Landion thought of this for a moment, then shook his head. "Alya, you had no way of knowing it was poisoned," he said. "How could you have known? One sip of wine wouldn't have hurt, normally. Listen to me, this is not your fault!!!" He was thinking, now. Lord Glauron and Lady Ithilwen would need to know that someone had tried to poison her.

She nodded, staring off into the distance. She had gotten used to the pain, and the extra pounds. She actually missed it now. She felt very empty. She wanted to cry, but couldn't find the tears. Unstead she just stared at nothing.

Glauron ran in with Ithilwen. Elrond had fetched them. "What happened?" he whisepred to Landion.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. When the maid opened it, she couldn't contain a silver-haired blur from racing past. Ithilwen came running into the bedroom, afraid the rumors she had heard were true. One look at her sister's face told her all she needed to know.

Alya blinked at the faces that had entered the room. She looked away, not knowing what to say to them. She shook her head, no she certainly didn't know what to say.

Ithilwen swept her sister up in an embrace. She tried to fathom learning one of her twins had died, and found it unthinkable. "Oh, Alya," she cried, sobbing unembarassed for her sister. "I just heard! I'm so sorry!"

Alya looked at her sister blankly, "Me too," she whispered. She wanted to cry so badly. Just to let the tears wash away the pain she felt inside, but she just couldn't seem to do it.

Ithilwen saw her sister's numbness, and it broke her heart. "Oh, Alya," she said. "Poor, sweet Alya! The tears will come, do not worry."

Alya looked at her, how did she know? She couldn't look at Landion. She didn't understand why he didn't blame her. She sure did. If she had been good, and not taken that sip, she would be making baby clothes, feeling the pain she now longed to feel again.

Ithilwen cooed to her sister a few more minutes, then looked at her. "Would you like me to stay with you?" she asked.

Alya looked at her, had she said somthing? She just staired, wondering if the words she was hearing were real. She looked around. Yes, everyone was looking at her, so she had said somthing. She nodded, hoping it was the right thing to do.

Ithilwen nodded. "Okay, then," she said, immediately finding a maid and having her go to her home for clothes and toiletries for a few days. She figured that, at the end of that time, if she needed to stay even longer, she could always send for more. Or go herself. The maid nodded understanding and scurried off. Ithilwen turned her full attention back to her sister.
"It's hard, I know," she said, trying to soothe her sister. "I can only imagine what you're going through right now. Oh." She started to cry again. "I'm so sorry!"
