Ithilwen came back from wherever she had been. "I'm sorry," she said. "I haven't been a very good conversationalist." She turned to Túveren and tried a smile. "If you want to leave, you can. I won't make you stay if you're uncomfortable." She patted Elrohir's knee. "And I honestly don't care what questions you ask," she admitted. "Don't worry about slipping up and saying something awkward!"

Tuveren shook her head. "I'll stay," she said, looking up. Her neck had began to ache! She also began to glare at Elrohir. Yup, she wasn't going to be leaving just yet. But she did want Elrohir to leave. He was making her feel so uncomfortable!

Ithilwen smiled, honestly relieved. "Good," she said. She felt uncomfortable alone for any length of time. "So . . . how are you?" She had finally figured out something to say that normal people used to have a conversation! She felt very proud.

Seeing this as a good sign, Elladan rose, as did Elrohir. Giving a nod, they left. Finally.
Túveren gave a small smile. That was. . .great! "Couldn't be better!" Of course, that wasn't true. Poor Ithilwen!

But Ithilwen smiled. "I'm glad," she said. At least one of them was doing well! "Anything new?"
Her scalp itched. And she wanted to feel the breeze through her hair, however little of it there was. She pulled the hood of her cloak all the way back, then turned to Túveren, asking if it made her feel uncomfortable.

Túveren nodded. "It's fine. Goodness Ith, it's not like you're a leper!" she scolded. Well she wasn't!
"And as for me, well everything's the same. Although I am thinking of leaving Aragorn's group. I might head for Ithilien instead."

Ithilwen smiled. "Thank you," she said, finally looking full at her friend. The one eye smiled, but the other just stared into space. "I'm sorry if it creeps you out."

She shook her head. "I've seen worse. But it'll be more noticeable if you keep drawing so much attention to it. Just leave it be," Tuveren said, giving a sigh.

Ithilwen nodded. "Alright," she said. She began running her fingers through her hair. "So . . . why are you thinking about leaving Aragorn's group?"

Túveren shrugged. "Father's anniversary," of his death remained unspoken, "is coming up next month. I never really pleased him, but he was stationed in Ithilien. I'm thinking of seeing if I can work something out with Faramir."

"He's fi---" Tuveren stopped herself. She wouldn't lie, even if it would ruin the moment. "Worried. Another reason why I came."

Ithilwen nodded. "About me?" she asked. "Or something else?" She wasn't about to assume she was the only one with problems!

"About you," she said quietly. "He would have come himself, it's just that in the last few raids, we've lost many men, and well, I guess you know the rest."

Ithilwen nodded, them smiled. "Well, now you've seen me, when you go back, you can tell him how I'm doing," she said. She wondered what kind of report her friend would give.
