"heh, well it'a a shame I shan't meet him." Mariana stood up and walked over to the door. "I'm sorry" Mariana quickly went out the door and climbed up the nearest tree. She would watch and make sure she was alright even though she could do nothing about it. Me and my big mouth. Gawd now I remember why I left. Too sensative and too delicate. But she is noble and knows nothing but this life, anything different will haunt her forever

Ithilwen watched Mariana leave in shock. Then she shook her head, and smiled a little. The girl had always been odd. She wondered if she'd see her again before leaving Rivendell.
OOC: now what?

An elf cloaked in a black robe slunk from the shadows. He drew his bow and shot clear at Mariana's heart. Luckily she had decided to leave so the arrow just missed it's target. Mariana fell from the tree as the figure dashed away. Mariana knew she had to get out of here fast so clutching her side she began to run toward mirkwood. A trail of blood behind her. Mariana made it to one of the larger courtyards before passing out out of pain and blood loss.

Ithilwen heard the commotion, then went out to see what was going on. She found the trail of blood, and followed it to Mariana. With a sigh, she pressed a handkerchief against the wound, then went to get help.

Mariana flickerd back into consciousness Marianapushed herself up and quickly removed the arrow. Not noticing the handkerchief Mariana ripped her own sleeve and shoved it in the wound. She crawled over to a bench and pulled her self onto it.

Ithilwen came back with two servants. A third had run off to get Elrond. When she got there, however, Mariana was gone, another trail of blood the only thing to mark her passing. "Mariana?" Ithilwen called lightly.

Mariana heard her name but it was hard for her to figure out who had said it and where it had come from. Everything was blury and all sounds echoed. Mariana stood up shakily but fell to her knees letting out a short scream. She squinted her eyes to try to focus her vision.

Ithilwen rushed over to where she had heard the scream. "Oh, Mariana!" she cried, finding the Elf laid out on a bench. The two manservants gently picked her up and carried her back to Ithilwen's house.

Mariana fell back into unconsciousness. The arrow that she had been clutching fell from her hand.

Ithilwen noticed the arrow, and picked it up. She examined it closely, but didn't know enough to know who had fired it. One thing was sure, though -- it was Elf made.
Mariana was carried in, and layed on a spare bed. Ithilwen pressed the now-red sleeve into the wound, deeper, trying to stop the blood flow.

The bleeding slowed and pretty much stopped after a few minutes. But the sheets on the bed had Mariana's blood on them and her shirt and vest were soaked by the wound. A female servant cut away the fabric around the wound and began to clean the wound.

Then Elrond came in, leading a servant carrying what he needed. He came over to the bed, and the servant cleaning the wound got out of his way. He examined it, then silently opened a bottle of salve and began to rub it into the wound.
Only then did he look at who he was ministering to. "Who is this?" he asked Ithilwen. "I've never seen her before!"
"She is Mariana, of Mirkwood," Ithilwen told him. "She just showed up here today. We talked for awhile, and she left in a hurry." She shook her head. "Mariana's an odd one," she explained. "After she left, I heard a commotion outside. When I investigated, she was lying on the ground, an arrow sticking out of her. I went to get help, and when we returned she had regained contiousness long enough to remove the arrow and drag herself to a nearby bench. I had her carried in, and we have been attending her ever since."

Elrond nodded "well she was lucky. A bit higher and it would have hit her heart. But the arrow went very deep. Obviously shot by a skilled arture. Was it an elvish arrow?"

Without a word, Ithilwen held up the arrow for his inspection. She knew it was Elvish, but nothing more. She'd leave the guessing to the experts.

Elrond nodded and lay the arrow aside for later inspection. After aplying various herbs and salves to the wound he had her shirt removed so that her could properly bandage it. Elrond packed the wound and then wrapped long pieces of fabric around her abdomine to hold it in place. "She should wake soon and recover quickly if she allows herself to heal properly. I will return tommorow to check on how it is healing." Elrond was troubled by the fact that there was a rogue elf trying to kill people.
