Before LotR
Finnar hauled herself through the gardens of Rivendell barely able to even stand on her two legs with the sickness she had. She had been cursed by the Witchking for the sympathy she had given to the elf. What was her name? "Bandwen!" Finnar croaked. It would be a miracle if someone managed to distinguish between her black cloak and the shade of night.
"Bandwen! Please help! I must find Bandwen!" she wheezed. Finnar fell to the ground, gasping for air, while coughing up a lung. "Please Bandwen...Help!" she whispered, rolling into a ball.

It wasn't Bandwen that found the half-orc in such a state. It was, instead, a courting couple, out for a picnic lunch. They immediately went for help, and eventually the sick Finnar was put in a room in the infirmatory, getting treatment . . . for the time being. But Elrond wasn't too sure about his patient.

Finnar was glad that the elves didn't prejudice against her for being a mixed breed. But it would take her a while to overcome the sickness that she had come down with. "Bandwen..." she faintley called out to the grumpy man (Elrond) who was treating her illness. "Please...I ask of one thing...get me Bandwen."

At first, Elrond did not understand the half-breed. He thought her delirious, instead, and simply changed her compreses. After all, who would name their daughter Bandwen?
Then the name clicked. And he remembered in horror who Bandwen was. He hesitated, but in the end need to know outweighed concern for his adopted daughter. He sent for Ithilwen.

"Exuse me, scary man...elf? Is Bandwen coming? I think her name started with an...I?" Finnar peeped. She coughed againg, and managed to get a glimpse of herself in a mirror some where in the room, that was close to her bed. Oh god? Was she really getting that old?

Elrond leaned forward. Ithilwen had been called Bandwen while a slave -- few knew that name. She also had talked extensively in her delirium about a 'Mistress'. Who, he knew, was half-orc. This did not bode well for his patient. "Yes, she is coming," he said, in a foul temper. Being called a 'scary man' didn't help, either. "But, pray tell, why do you know her by this name?"

"I named her Bandwen...She had some name in...Quenya. I could not pronounce it..." Finnar paused to take a breath. She almost fell asleep, but managed to keep herself awake. "I didn't wan't to call her elf all the time. So I named her...Bandwen."

"You named her Bandwen?" Elrond cried. He was about to question her further, but Ithilwen came in then.
"What is it?" she asked, not noticing the patient.

Finnar jumped at the scary man's out burst, and screamed. The last time she had been in humanoid contact was with the Witchking. And the Witchking was in a bad mood. Finnar had spotted Bandwen come in the room. "Help! He's trying to kill me! My precious Bandwen! Spare me from death!"

Ithilwen, still not recognizing Finnar's identity, looked from Elrond to his patient, and thought that unlikely. Mad he may be, but Elrond did not kill people for it. In fact, right now he was looking more confused than mad. He looked at her, and she shrugged.
Then she saw the identity of the patient, and her whole face went deathly white.
OOC: I can sympathize. Movie-Elrond, mad at you, scary eyebrows of Doom, . . . *shudders* I won't sleep tonight! Oh, and feel free to do some Elrond. You do a good Sharky . . .

OOC: Yes, and the eyebrow epidemic of Middle Earth... BIC
Finnar knew she was at the end. Bandwen didn't recognize her...she was the only one on Arda who would have a small chance of helping her. And the elf didn't even know eho she was. "Bandwen. It's me. Finnar...don't you know me?" she asked. And then Bandwen knew who she was talking to.
"Ithilwen? Who is this?" Elrond questioned.

Ithilwen ignored Elrond's question. "May I have a moment with her?" she asked instead. Elrond looked like it was against his better judgement, but got up and left. Everyone else in the room left with him, until it was only Ithilwen and Finnar.

"Ithilwen? You're Ithilwen?" Finnar asked. Finnar studied Ithilwen for what seemed like eons (which was actually two minutes). She was going to touch the elf, but decided against it. "You're hair...It's grown back a bit..." Finnar then noticed that Ithilwen's stomach was flatter. "The child? Did I kill it?"

Ithilwen ignored Finnar's questions. Instead, she crossed her arms across her chest, then went to the room's window and watched the waterfall below. "Give me one good reason why I should not tell Elrond and everyone else exactly who you are and what you did to me," she said, not looking at Finnar, a tremor in her voice despite her best efforts.

"Because I set you free." Finnar stated. "You haven't figured that out yet?"
