Ithilwen pursed her lips. "She was poisoned," she admitted. "We don't know by who or why . . . yet." She didn't add that she herself was the intended target. She didn't want to worry them more than necessary! "And, well, . . . she lost the babe."

The color left both of their faces and Alagos covered his face. "What?" Laru asked, tears welling in her eyes.

Ithilwen nodded, sadly. "She herself is out of danger, though, and recovering well." The one bright spot of the whole thing.

Laur noddd and covered her face. "May I be excused?" she whispered, trying to get up.

Ithilwen didn't answer, just nodded. She watched as her daughter left, wondering if she should go after her or just let her grieve for the cousin she'd never know.

Alagos looked up. His sister was one of the only people he cared for. But his father was up sooner. "I'll be right back," he whispered. Laur was his little girl, even if she had a mother name, she was rarley called by it, and few actually knew it. She prefered her father name and he just loved comforting her. Loved her.
Alagos looked at his mother and moved to sit next to her. OOC play Laur?

OOC: sure
BIC:
Ithilwen looked at her son, trying to smile. "It will be fine," she assured him.
Laur ran back to her room and laid on her bed, sobbing. She already loved her little cousin, had often wondered what he or she would look and act like. To have that taken away . . . and so fast . . . and by a person! It would have been one thing if it had been an accident, but to have someone deliberatly poison her was cold-blooded murder.

Glauron sat down and kissed his daughter's hair, running his fingers through it. "Are you alright, Nightengale?" he whispered and looked at her, and took her in his arms.
Alagos touched his mother's hand and kissed her cheek. "Good..."

Ithilwen smiled at her son's gesture, then turned her head and began to weep. She turned from Alagos, ashamed. She should be comforting him!
Laur buried her face in her father's chest. "Oh, Ada, that poor babe!" she said. "And poor Auntie! And . . . and . . . poison? Ada, who would do such a thing? And why?! Who did Auntie upset enough? And what if they come after us?"

He rocked her back and forth. He didn't think it wise to say that it had been her mother's wine. "They won't come after you," he whispered and kissed her. "I promise that you'll be safe. I'm the Ada that's my job." He kissed her and held her close.

She smiled through her tears at him. "Thank you, Ada," she said, greatly comforted by that. She reached up and kissed him on the cheek, enjoying his arms around her, making her feel safe.

Alagos held his mother's hand and looked up at her and smiled gently. "Nana," he whispered and looked at her and shook gently. "If you're afraid... I'll protect you."

Ithilwen looked at her son, touched deeply by his gesture. "Thank you," she said, kissing his forehead, and furiously mopping at her tears with her hand. She smiled at him, trying to show him everything was fine, although the gesture wasn't very effective with a red eye and tear stains.

He smiled at his mother and wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her cheek. "You can cry if you like..." he gave a gentle smile. "I would cry if that happened to Laur."

She smiled at her son, and at first was strong for him. But she couldn't do it. Silently, she began to cry again.
