She looked at him, stunned. Where was the carefree 22-year-old child? A man had replaced him. "I believe you," she said, surprised that she did. Why did she feel comforted and safe with her own son?

He smiled and kissed her cheek. "Ada and I promise... he promised you when you married, I'll promise you now."
Glauron looked down his daughter. "Are you coming back to dinner, or staying here?"

Ithilwen touched his shoulder, again surprised by how much that comforted her. "Thank you, Agalos son of Glauron," she said. "I accept your promise."
Laur looked up. "I'll come back," she said. "I just . . . I'm coming, just please give me a moment?"

"Thank you..." he said with a nod and sat down and sipped from his wine.
"Alright, Nightengale," he whispered. "But can I stay with you for a while... you seem scared."

Laur shook her head. "No, I want to be alone, if that's okay," she said. "Just for a minute . . ."
Ithilwen smiled at her son, insanely proud. She took a sip from her own water. She hadn't drank any wine since . . . last night.

He sighed and looked up. "Did you know, to check for posion that you run your finger around the rim... it's impolite, but practical..." he blushed. "Uncle Eramrath taught me."

She looked at him, startled. "No, I did not," she said. "How would that help anything?"

He shrugged. "Then you wouldn't drink it! And if it was a powder it would leave some on the sides... but if it was a liquid... you're taking chances."

Ithilwen smiled at her son. Suddenly, she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. "You've made me proud of you today," she informed him, then got up to pour herself a glass of wine.

He smiled and lifted his glass, to show her, he wasn't afriad to drink wine, if she wasn't. "Thank you, Nana," he whispered, blushing. "I like making you proud..."

She smiled at his blush, and took a sip, as Glauron came back in. Immediately, her attention was on her husband. "How's Laur?" she asked.

"Shaken," he replied and sighed, ruffling his son's hair. "I think we all are."

Ithilwen nodded. "How we are," she said, taking another sip. She wouldn't mention Agalos' promise. Let him tell his father, if he so wished. He was becoming a man now.

He didn't tell his father instead he ate in silence. When Laur didn't show up, he silently got up to getch his twin.

Laur was just composing herself when her twin entered. She turned away, trying to hide her blotchy face from him. He was male, he wouldn't understand.
