Glauron started the forge up. He didn't have to work everyday anymore, but he still had to work. Some that were going west wanted their blades fixed. Some wanted new ones, others just wanted jewelery, which was his newst work.
He picked up a small hammer and fixed the circlet for a noble lady. He lowered his head and sighed, looking up hearing someone enter.

Vanmoriel looked up, surprised. How many days had she stood here, and he had never noticed her? Never had he even looked up, to say hello. Her blood boiled in her veins. What inspired him to do so now, now that it was too late? But none of this touched her face. Instead, she put on the mask of girlish innocence that had become second-nature already. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she said. "I was just watching!"

"It's alright," he smiled and looked at her. "Sidhiel, am I correct?" he asked and smiled. "My apprentices like it when you watch them..." he smiled and looked up. "Do you need anything?"

She smiled back. "Yes, sir, it is," she said. "And I am just watching again." He had noticed? He had noticed her watching, day in and day out? Why was it, then, that he had never said anything to her? Never even looked up?

He had known that she had watched him. Known it for years, but so had Ithilwen, and he was very shy. The only reason he had even spoken to Ithilwen was his outgoing sister who had nearly tricked him.
"I thought," he said, looking up at her for a moment. "A long time ago, that you might have watned to be a smith," he smirked and then sighed, looking at the cirelet. "But then, most of the apprectices say you were giving the eye to Gildor." Gildor was an apprentice that stood next to him, turning the blades.

She shook her head. "I have never wanted to be a smith," she said. She was also about to denounce her supposed feelings for Gildor, but stopped. A romance would give her a reason to be here often. She held her tongue.

He smiled. "Well Gildor left a few weeks ago," he said and looked up. "I'm the only one left."

She pretended concern. "Left where?" she asked. Oh, how she loved to watch him work!

"All the other smiths have gone west," he said. "I'm the only one left in Rivendell, save my son."

"Oh," she said, pretending to be upset, but really thinking fast. How could she justify coming to the forge every day now? She thought of it, but not hard. He had started working again. And, wow, those muscles . . .

"Do you need something?" he asked and looked up at her. "A sword, or jewelery?" he asked and looked up. "It might take a while to make on my own..."

It took her a moment to answer. She shook her head. "I cannot afford anything," she said. Oh, how long until Sauron came forth?

He sighed. "I need some help around here," he told her. "Cleaning up and help and the like... but since I'm alone I'm stuck doing it all. You can help and I can make you something...or pay you if you'd like that."

Her eyes widened. Here was her out, her reason to stick around the forge! And, to posess something made by his hands . . . "Yes, please!" she said, never forgetting her manners.

"Thank you," he said with a nod. "You'll just fetch water and keep the tools clean. That's all." He smiled and nodded to her.
